Voyager
Voyager Newsletter - December 2023
What an exciting term for Voyager! We have had so much fun attending House Events and collecting points for our team. We are currently in the lead which always makes me so proud of Voyager! The dedication and commitment our students show never fails to amaze me! What a way to start the year!
We have been making donation boxes for Basingstoke Foodbank and cards for the local community, too!
I'd like to take a moment to shout-out some incredible Voyagers from Term One:
Amelia B-H in Year 7: Amelia has come to almost all of our House Events, just to show her support. She has become a real friend to all of the Voyagers
William H in Year 7: William has made an incredible first impression on his teachers this year
Yosung in Year 8: Yosung has shown true dedication to his House by attending many events but also by being a star pupil. Yosung is incredibly polite and committed.
Daniel B Year 9: Daniel is a really diligent and hardworking Voyager who always strives to do his best. Daniel has the highest event attendance in Year 9 too!
Maddie Year 10: Being a star all term and making great progress in all areas. Maddie has particularly thrived in English and PE.
Amelia D Year 11: Amelia has the most House Cup Points and attends so many revision sessions every week!
There are so many more who have been so wonderful, if you're a Voyager please give yourself a huge pat on the back for this term! I'm so impressed. Stay tuned for Rewards Assembly and follow me at @MissMalone02 for more regualr updates!
24-11-2022 : Voyager Newsletter - November 2022
We are having a great start to the new half term as we maintain first place and welcome fantastic new Year 7 House event attendees. We recently had our House Assembly where I was able to celebrate and reward the following tutor groups for their amazing efforts at House events: 7VY2 (Miss Roberts), 8VY1 (Miss Walley) and my own tutor group 9VY2. We had the highest attendance at Year 7s first ever event and came second! We had fantastic skill from Sidd (y7) and dedication from Amelia (y7) who turned up with signs to show her team spirit! Unfortunately, our Year 9 tech event was postponed, but that didn't stop the resilient year 9s who marched over to chess to learn how to play instead. Hayden (y11) did an excellent job of teaching the others how to play, and even won a game within the same hour! Horizon took the lead in Chess but only for now! Every single member of our team has been showing exactly what our four cornerstones are all about! As always, being Head of Voyager is a joy and I can’t wait for the rest of the year. Keep your eyes out for our first charity fundraiser for Barnardo's coming soon too! – Miss Malone, Head of House
31-10-2022 : Voyager Newsletter - October 2022
Voyager have made a fantastic start and continued to uphold high standards throughout this half term. We’ve even managed to get our place back from Endeavour in the lead! We’ve had a great time at our House events, we’ve created Hate Crime Awareness posters and worked successfully as a team all term so far!
Voyagers continue to attend House events with high numbers, and so much drive. It’s always great leading such a kind, successful and hardworking team of students! We have also started recruiting new Tutor reps, welcome to the team, Jake H (year 9), Layla G (year 11), Yosung and Hollie (year 7) and Maia S-N (year 10). These amazing Voyagers are joining our team of students reprising their roles from last year! I’m so looking forward to working with them. Finally, we are proud to announce we are going to be spending the year supporting our chosen charity: Barnardo’s!
Now over to Maia for some House cup news! – Miss Malone, Head of Voyager.
Voyager has thrived in all the house events that have taken place this academic year so far. All four cornerstones of our school ethos were bravely demonstrated through everyone’s courage, commitment, collaboration and kindness. On the first Friday back from the summer holidays, the year 11s played in a football match. There was a huge turnout and a special thank you goes to Kyle for organising the team. A week later, the year 10 girls went against the other house groups in a football match. Voyager took a positive 3-1 win and the girls showed strength and passion throughout the game! The following week, the year 9 photography event proved once again Voyager’s commitment, with the highest attendance (12)! This helped in earning many more points for Voyager! Finally, last week, there were two convivial house events that took place: the year 8 boys participated in a football match. They triumphantly took first place, adding yet more points for voyager, contributing to the amazing overall total.
A special congratulations to Jaden and Kyron for their admirable teamwork and dedication in the game and a big thank you to Charlie in year 9, coming to support the year 8 boys. Lastly, Voyager took part in the year 9 art house event. It was great fun and it was lovely to see how well the year 9 collaboratively worked together to solve the treasure hunt. Voyager also had the largest turnout out of all the houses, which was great to see. An additional thanks to Liana and Maddie for their leadership skills within the team and helping others to crack the clues. All these house events have had fabulous turnouts, and I cannot wait to see Voyager continue to thrive in the future house events! – Maia, Tutor Rep
08-07-2022 : Voyager Newsletter - July 2022
So much to update you on! This term has been an absolutely party! We have had Sports Day, Sports Award Evenings, PGL and so many incredibly lessons! Year 8 joined us for a trip to PGL a few weeks ago where the Voyager superstars got to show how fantastic they were outside of school. We made so many memories. Then Sports Awards night where Football Captain Charlie won a trophy! You can see him proudly holding it in our photos. Then we had Sports day where we managed to up our success winning 2nd place! Pioneer swiped the win with their fantastic competition. We got to see record breaking jumping and running! Kelvin (y10), Maia, Emilia, Harini (y9) and Kyron and Jayden (y7) ran so fast we barely got to cheer quick enough!
We also welcome our new HOUSE CAPTAIN KYLE! Kyle was a shining star yesterday at Sports Day with enough team spirit to full the field! A fantastic person to represent our wonderful team, I’m so excited to work with him more!
We are still clinging on to our overall House Cup win and Inter-house Cup win with every intention of keeping our first place for the last term! Let’s do this Voyager! – Your number One Supporter, Miss Malone.
16-06-2022 : Voyager Newsletter - June 2022
Voyager have embraced the new term with confidence and calmness as we maintain first place. We have had fun outside playing Rounders with Endeavour and will be at Year 9 Photography this week, too! We are in the process of reaching out to our newest and youngest Voyagers who will be joining us in September, so if you're a Year 6 reader, keep an eye out for a letter from me!
Voyager's student team had their final meeting of the year recently where we chatted about assemblies, Sports Day and ate breakfast together! It was a delightful morning!
Sports Day is not too far away now, and we are ready to compete, cheer and celebrate outside together! We are making flags and banners and we cannot wait to turn the field a shade of Voyager blue with our decorations on the day! It's going to be fantastic.
We are still leading the way currently in interhouse competitions and House Cup Points so I'm super proud of all of you in Team Voyager! - Miss Malone
09-05-2022 : Voyager Update
Update from our Year 8 tutor rep: "Well done Voyager who continue to lead the house cup in the closing stages of the school year. We continue to lead the way in house points with half of the top ten student on the leader board for house points, being Voyagers. Not only that, but we are also leading the way in inter house competitions showing a great sense of teamwork and determination. We are truly the best house!! " - Edward
Miss Malone: "Thanks Edward! I couldn't agree more! We have had a blast at House Events and gathering stamps in lessons to remain at the top! Last week we had so much sunshine and I think it encouraged our team to continue to shine, too! We played Rounders on Friday, it was a challenge as it was a busy one but through teamwork, Voyager got another well-deserved win. Being the Head of Voyager is easy when you have students as committed as ours! Now just to keep this up until the end of the year. So proud of you all! "
GO VOYAGER!
05-04-2022 : Update from Our Tutor Rep Edward
Update from Our Tutor Rep Edward: Congratulations to the entire of Voyager house as we have retaken the lead of the house cup! This has been largely due to excellent commitment from everyone inside the house and a brilliant performance in the house cup challenges: some highlights include 1st place in year 8 + 9 French and year 7 basketball, and 2nd place in year 11 maths. Students in Voyager house continue to be supportive of each other and celebrating their houses’ success. Well done to everyone in Voyager house!
Thanks Edward! Couldn't agree more! What a fantastic half-term it has been. I can only repeat how proud I am of the best House! Voyager are always going above and beyond to show commitment and collaboration at House events. We've made so many memories and every week new friendships are forming at these events. My favourite moment this term has been seeing Year 8 and Year 9 come together at MfL events, they've really worked together and connected over their shared love for Team Voyager! Let's keep this going next term! - Miss Malone
05-04-2022 : Voyager Smashing the Event this half-term
Voyager once again have been absolutely smashing the event this half-term! Still leading the way strongly with 27640 House Points and 1040 House Cup Competition Points! We had a great time in Year 7 Tech last week and landed 1st and 3rd place in Year 8 Badminton
As usual, Voyager are really showing pride in their team and confidently representing us at events and throughout the school. I'm so proud or everyone!
Well done Arthur and Daniel for their victories in Badminton last week!
19-08-2021 : Voyager
Voyager is a House built entirely based on kindness and support. As a team, we value the importance of being collaborative, and helping others when needed. The team are enthusiastic, caring, and successful in many areas. They show an unmatched level of team spirit as they cheer each other on so naturally. We take our name from the NASA project of the same title with pride.
Modelling an admirable level of inspiration and kindness, we are fortunate enough to be represented by our notable person, Marcus Rashford. Unanimously, the Voyagers chose him based on the generosity and support he shows to others. He has helped provide millions of meals for children who were in need. Rashford’s decision to support others inspires our team as we proudly look to him for how to make positive changes.
The Voyager space projects flew out together and the success of their exploration led them to surpass all other space crafts. This success is primarily to do with the fact Voyager is made up of a duo of space crafts that communicate as a team and rely on each other. The success and teamwork of this expedition are exactly why we pride ourselves on the same ethos. The team of Voyagers who explore together in space are what gave us the inspiration for our slogan, Out There Together.
Welcome to our House! Go Voyagers!
